Is Red Wine Still Cool During The Summer?
Red Wine Consumption Dips In the Summer. Should I Drink Red Wine When It’s Hot?
Red wine is a fan favorite for many. In Texas, “Cab is King” is a typical phrase heard at steakhouses. From ripe Napa Cabernet Sauvignon wines to hearty Haut-Medoc Bordeaux Blends, the bold reds keep us thirsty for more.
But when the temps rise, is red wine still enjoyable?
I would say of course! Why not? If you enjoy red wine, you should keep sipping it. Many red wines may be more tolerable for summer consumption.
I’d recommend saving your glass or bottle of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Malbec for dinner to pair with your fatty proteins.
But if you’re outside, you may want to consider the following for the summer:
Beaujolais (from the Gamay grape) - can be served as cold as lightly chilled
Pinot Noir - can be served as cold as lightly chilled
Lambrusco - should be served chilled around 45-55 degrees Fahrenheit.
